PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Treatment Perth

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) Treatment Highlights
- Autologous. Prepared from the patient’s own blood, not a prescription medicine
- Medically supervised, performed by trained clinicians
- Delivered by injection or with a microneedling device
- Typically given as a short course of sessions
- Results develop gradually and vary between individuals
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. A small amount of the patient’s own blood is drawn and processed in a centrifuge to separate a concentrated solution of platelets and growth factors, which is then injected into or applied topically to the skin (often with a microneedling device). It can help address the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, uneven texture and some scarring, including acne scarring.

- Age spots / general signs of skin ageing
- Acne scarring and other skin damage
- Areas and suitability are assessed individually at your consultation

MOA
PRP uses a small sample of the patient’s own blood, which is placed in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and the growth factors they contain. This concentrate is then applied to the skin with a fine needle or a microneedling device. The growth factors are intended to support the skin’s natural collagen production and tissue repair; because the material comes from your own body it is not a prescription-only medicine, and individual responses vary and are not guaranteed.
PRP Treatment Summary
Number of Treatments
PRP is usually performed as a course of around three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart; the exact plan depends on the individual and the concern being addressed.
Procedure Time
Each appointment usually takes roughly 30–60 minutes.
Discomfort Level
Most patients report minimal discomfort once a topical numbing cream is applied, though sensation varies between individuals.
Recovery Time
There is generally little to no downtime; some bruising, redness or swelling can occur at the treated sites.
When Will I See Results?
Any improvement develops gradually over the course of sessions rather than immediately; PRP is not a cure and individual results vary.
Duration of Results
The improvement is not permanent; results vary between individuals, and periodic maintenance (often around annually), alongside a home skincare routine, is usually needed to sustain the benefit.
Resumption of Usual Activities
You can resume light activities immediately but should avoid direct sun and strenuous exercise for the first 48 hours.
Aftercare
Light activity only, and avoiding sun and strenuous exercise, is advised for the first 48 hours; the benefit is best maintained alongside a good skincare routine.
PRP General Information
Process
Because PRP is prepared from your own blood, it is not a prescription-only medicine. It is not a cure and does not stop or reverse ageing; the aim is a gradual, natural-looking improvement in the appearance of the skin, and how much benefit any individual sees can vary. A treatment plan — including whether PRP is appropriate for you and how many sessions may be suitable — is determined after an individual assessment at consultation.
Risks
As with any procedure that breaks the skin, there may be bruising, redness, swelling, tenderness or, less commonly, infection at the treated sites.
How to Choose Your PRP Treatment Provider
PRP is prepared from your own blood, so safe collection and handling — and honesty about what it can realistically do — matter more than any marketing. Choose a provider who draws and processes your blood using proper sterile technique in a clean clinical setting, since anything that breaks the skin carries an infection risk. Ask for an evidence-honest account of expectations: PRP is not a cure, any improvement is gradual over a course of sessions, and how much benefit you notice varies from person to person. A good practitioner assesses whether PRP genuinely suits your skin and concern, explains the alternatives, and doesn’t promise a fixed result.
Why Choose MedAesthetics for PRP?
Because PRP involves drawing and reinjecting your own blood, sterile technique and trained clinicians sit at the centre of how it is carried out here:
- Overseen by Dr Ehsan Jadoon (MED0001586460), Registered Medical Practitioner (general registration), with a qualified clinical team
- Preceded by an individual assessment of your skin to judge whether PRP is a suitable option
- Explained honestly — including that results are gradual, vary between people and are not guaranteed — alongside the risks and alternatives
- Provided without pressure, and not recommended where it isn’t appropriate for you

Frequently asked questions
What is PRP made from?
It is prepared from a small sample of your own blood, which is concentrated to increase the proportion of platelets and growth factors before being returned to your skin.
How many sessions of PRP will I need?
This depends on the individual and the concern being addressed; a course of around three sessions, four to six weeks apart, is common. Your clinician will advise after assessing your skin.
Will PRP treatment work for me?
Responses are individual and cannot be guaranteed. PRP is not a cure for skin ageing; the goal is a gradual improvement in the appearance of the skin, best maintained alongside a good skincare routine.
